Simmi’s path into mediation is grounded in a strong academic foundation. She graduated from York University in 2003 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in Philosophy and Law & Society. In 2007, she earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Windsor and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008.
Simmi spent the first four years of her career as an insurance defence litigator before transitioning to the personal injury field for seven years. She participated in numerous mediations representing both plaintiffs and defendants during this time. Simmi has also been extensively involved in e‑discovery, working on matters involving mergers and acquisitions, contractual disputes, employment law issues, and section 11 orders across a wide range of industries.
What sets Simmi apart is her fourteen years of experience as an educator. Of particular note, she has taught in Humber College’s Paralegal Diploma and Paralegal Graduate Certificate programs. In this role she instructs on the principles of mediation across various courses. She has taught and advocates for the benefits and importance of settlement and resolution.
This combination of litigation experience, knowledge of various industries and areas of law, and mediation focused education allows Simmi to approach disputes with both legal insight and a deep understanding of conflict resolution principles. Her goal is to help parties move beyond positional bargaining and toward practical, sustainable agreements. Her approach is grounded, impartial, and informed, giving her a clear understanding of both the legal context and the human dynamics behind conflict.
Simmi assists with a wide range of civil matters, including contract disputes, property issues, employment conflicts, and other non‑family civil disputes. Her specialty is in insurance and personal injury matters.
